Message from the Program Director
Welcome to the St. Joseph's Family Medicine Residency Program, and thank you for your interest in becoming part of our residency family.
At St. Joseph's, we believe Family Medicine is one of the most rewarding and impactful specialties in healthcare. Our mission is to train compassionate, confident, and highly skilled family physicians who provide exceptional, evidence-based care while advocating for the health of the diverse communities they serve.
Our 10-10-10 ACGME-accredited residency offers comprehensive, full-spectrum training in one of California's most culturally diverse and medically underserved regions. Residents gain extensive experience across the continuum of care including inpatient medicine, critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, women's health, community medicine, and longitudinal outpatient continuity care at our Federally Qualified Health Center. Graduates leave our program prepared to practice confidently in any Family Medicine setting.
Education at St. Joseph's extends far beyond clinical excellence. Residents develop expertise through robust procedural training, point-of-care ultrasound, simulation, Lifestyle Medicine, quality improvement, patient safety, scholarly activity, and research. Our protected weekly didactic curriculum, dedicated faculty mentorship, and collaborative multidisciplinary learning environment foster both professional growth and lifelong learning.
Equally important is our culture. We are deeply committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and family-oriented environment where residents are challenged to achieve their highest potential while prioritizing wellness, resilience, and professional fulfillment. Watching our residents evolve into outstanding physicians, leaders, educators, and
advocates is the greatest privilege of serving as Program Director.
Whether your future includes comprehensive outpatient practice, hospital medicine, obstetrics, academic medicine, fellowship training, or leadership, we are committed to helping you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve your goals.
Thank you for considering the St. Joseph's Family Medicine Residency Program. We invite you to explore what makes our program unique and look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to our family.
